admin2024-09-26T04:28:47+00:00On May 4, 2024, the overflowing of River Nyando caused a severe disruption in Kisumu, as the river broke its banks, flooding Nyando Bridge and surrounding areas. The rising waters swept through nearby homes, shops, and roads, leaving a trail of devastation. The hardest-hit areas include Nyando, Kadibo, Kisumu Central, Nyakach, and Kisumu East subcounties.
In addition to property damage, the floods destroyed essential sanitation facilities such as latrines, raising serious public health concerns. Among those affected are beneficiaries of Shinners C.B.O., who now face heightened risks due to the compromised sanitation systems.
