Building safer spaces, stronger communities, and more resilient organizations
Safety and security are essential to effective community engagement and humanitarian action. For organizations working closely with communities, understanding potential risks and knowing how to prevent and respond to them is critical to protecting staff, volunteers, partners, and the people we serve.
Kisumu Shinners C.B.O. recently participated in an insightful capacity-building session led by Church World Service (CWS), focusing on safety, risk management, and safeguarding in community-based work.
The session provided an opportunity to strengthen our understanding of practical approaches to identifying and managing risks, promoting safe working environments, and ensuring that safeguarding remains an integral part of our programs and organizational practices.
Beyond building knowledge, the engagement created an important space for reflection, discussion, and shared learning. Participants explored how stronger safety and safeguarding practices can contribute to more effective community engagement and responsible humanitarian action.
At Kisumu Shinners C.B.O., we recognize that resilient communities require organizations that are prepared, responsible, and committed to creating safe and inclusive spaces. We are grateful to Church World Service (CWS) for the valuable knowledge and insights shared during the session.
As we continue our work with communities, we remain committed to strengthening our organizational capacity and ensuring that safety, security, and safeguarding are embedded across our programs and activities.
Together, we build safer spaces, stronger communities, and more resilient organizations.
